If Imitation is the Sincerest form of Flattery, Copyright Infringement is the Most Expensive

In 2021, Matidor was ordered to pay damages to Fieldshare in a Federal court case of copyright infringement and passing off. In a 170-paragraph public judgement, the Honourable Justice McHaffie of the Federal Court of Canada found the Defendants in that case liable for copyright infringement and passing-off. Find the Federal Court Decision here.

The Defendants were ordered to pay the amount of $277,400 in profits and damages, plus interest. We are disappointed to see new advertisements which suggest that Matidor is affiliated with Fieldshare, despite the resolution of our legal dispute in Federal Court last year. The actions of Matidor and Vincent Lam have been condemned online by news outlets covering the technology sector, such as Global Newswire. We will continue to monitor their activities going forward and will defend our intellectual property to the fullest extent.

Regards,

Fieldshare Team
