Fieldshare makes it easy to visualize the work at each project location, with user-friendly tools for drawing features of interest on the site map.
At the top right of the site map is the Map Toolbar, containing tools for drawing markers, areas and lines, as well as measuring distances and controlling the visibility of map layers. Clicking the Map Layers icon will keep the layer list open.
The marker tool lets you draw a single point on the site map to mark an important feature or location. In the Map Toolbar, click the marker icon, and then click a spot on the map to place the marker.
You can change the appearance of each marker using a library of symbols and a palette of colours, and you can enter information about the marker including a name and description.
The area tool lets you draw a shape on the site map to outline a region or boundary. In the Map Toolbar, click the area icon, and then click a spot on the map to place the first point. Click to place additional points, and double click to place the final point and finish drawing. To draw a circle, click on the Circle icon. Then click on a spot on the map as the center of the circle. Then click on the second point to set the radius of the circle.
You can customize the styling of each area by changing the line style, line thickness, area colour, and fill opacity. You can also enter information about the area including a name and description.
You can draw lines on the site map to indicate a border, road, fence or other feature. In the Map Toolbar, click the line icon, and then click a spot on the map to place the first point. Click to place additional points in the line, and double click to place the final point and finish drawing.
You can change the appearance of lines by adjusting the line style, thickness, and colour. You can also enter information about the line including a name and description.
Fieldshare lets you track information about each feature drawn on the site map. By default Fieldshare lets you enter a name and description for each marker, area and line.
Users with the Administrator role can specify additional information to be tracked by customizing templates and adding new fields. In Settings, click Project Templates. Select a template and select one of the Site Drawing Information groups (Marker, Line or Area). Then you can add fields where necessary for each group. Learn about customizing project templates
You can also import site drawings from GPX files containing points (which become markers) or tracks (which become areas or lines). You can also import CSV files that contain a list of markers. Learn more about importing site drawings.
